چکیده

The 1 × 4 optical switch array for wavelength division multiplexing system has been demonstrated where four 1 × 4 waveguide digital optical switches have been integrated into one chip. Tape fiber is used as the connection between switch modules to avoid an interconnection fiber jungle. The architecture can be adapted to any number of wavelength channels. Redundant optical switch stage for crosstalk rejection has been used to attain a low crosstalk level. Electro-optic switching is used to attain low power consumption indispensable for routing large wavelength channels. key words: optical switch, switch matrix, waveguide, LiNbO3

Self-Routing Nonblocking WDM Switches Based on Arrayed Waveguide Grating

Arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) is a promising technology for constructing high-speed large-capacity WDM switches, because it can switch fast, is scalable to large size and consumes little power. To take the full advantage of high-speed AWG, the routing control of a massive AWG-based switch should be as simple as possible. In this paper, we focus on the self-routing design of AWG-based switches...

Monolithically Integrated Wavelength-Routing Switch Using Tunable Wavelength Converters with Double-Ring-Resonator Tunable Lasers

We present an 8 × 8 wavelength-routing switch (WRS) that monolithically integrates tunable wavelength converters (TWCs) and an 8 × 8 arrayed-waveguide grating. The TWC consists of a double-ringresonator tunable laser (DRR TL) allowing rapid and stable switching and a semiconductor-optical-amplifier-based optical gate. Two different types of dry-etched mirrors form the laser cavity of the DRR TL...

Optical cross-connect architecture using waveband conversion and a passive wavelength router

An optical cross-connect architecture based on wavelength routing is proposed. The design utilises an input waveband conversion stage followed by an arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) to enable optical switching and an output single wavelength conversion stage for wavelength assignment and regeneration. Arranging the AWG in feedback or foldback loop configuration the requirement for an output mult...

AWG Based Optical Packet Switch Architecture

This paper discusses an optical packet switch (OPS) arch itecture, which utilizes the components like optical reflectors, tunable wavelength converters (TWCs), arrayed waveguide grating (AW G) and pieces of fiber to realize the switching action. This architecture uses routing pattern of AW G, and its symmetric nature, to simplify switch operation significantly. It is also shown that using multi...
